One child was strapped onto my back while the other crawled in the playground. I stayed up all night days, for months, sanding and stripping wallpaper while carrying one kid. Ha! We were getting closer to completing, however it was still a long way off. It would take a great deal of effort and a love to shop. In order to stay within my budget, I began attending estate sales along with my three brothers to search for gems hidden in the dirt. We would go from the week of Thursday through Saturday at estate sales and garage sales purchasing old and brand new furniture. After that, I repainted and smoothed the driveway throughout the week. It looked a bit like this... Here is the place where my passion for the restoration of antique furniture began. It didn't matter if the house was already furnished. On the streets I set up a little space and sold some items. I eventually had numerous pieces that I did not have a clue what to do with them and my storage space was a mess. Then I began hosting open houses at my house where over 1 000 people could visit in a single weekend and could purchase anything they wanted on the first floor. Growing Days was created in the home. Growing Days was more than a thriving business but it was also a loving family. I was finding that balance of having starting a new venture as well as a mother too. Growing Days just fit. My precious Nora was born in 2013 and was our fourth baby. I loved where my business was taking me, but I felt like I needed to take a breather. I got away from the old furniture in order to spend more quality time with my children. It was the right time. It rang once more after a while. People contacted me asking for help with decorating their homes and interiors. A majority of those calling me were people who had attended one of the furniture open houses. In the course of my work, I added clients each day. But it wasn't long before I had multiple clients and ran a successful home remodeling business. Most likely, I would have laughed if somebody had informed me that my company was to become the premise of an upcoming tv program that airs on the DIY Network. If I think back, it still makes me smile.
